A group bet tracker built for a WhatsApp group, not a spreadsheet

Most groups start with the best intentions: a shared bet every weekend, a screenshot in the chat, someone keeping a tally. Three months later nobody knows who's up, who picked what, or what last week's slip even was. CommunityBet keeps that record straight so the group can get on with the banter.

What a group bet tracker actually needs to do

The bet itself is the easy part. The admin is what kills groups off. A tracker earns its place if it does four things without anyone chasing anyone.

  • Collect everyone's pick before the deadline, in one visible place
  • Store the actual bet slip so there's no argument about what went on
  • Record the result and the return, then update the running P&L
  • Work out who owes what this week and log it when they pay

This week's pick, visible to everyone

Each member submits their selection for the week. Everyone in the group can see what's in and what's missing, so the one person who always forgets gets nudged by the table rather than by you. Admins can enter a pick on behalf of someone who's away.

Upload the slip and the bet is locked in

Whoever places the bet uploads a photo of the slip. CommunityBet reads the odds, the stake, the potential return and the first kick-off, then treats the bet as locked. There's no separate 'confirm odds' step to forget, and the slip stays attached to the week as evidence.

Results and P&L without a running total in someone's notes app

When the bet settles, the group records win, loss or an early payout. P&L is derived from the actual stake and return on each settled bet, so the number on the dashboard is the number that happened — not a tally somebody forgot to update.

The money side, settled properly

Set the group's weekly bet value once and choose how it's split. CommunityBet works out the per-person figure and tracks who has paid.

  • All pay — the weekly total split evenly across the group
  • Losers pay — last week's losers cover this week's stake
  • Take turns — one member funds the week, rotating through the group

Where it goes next

Once the record exists, the fun stuff follows: streaks, a star man, a points-based league table and — if the group opts in — a public profile and a place in the wider CommunityBet community. All of it comes from the same record you were keeping badly by hand.

Common questions

Does CommunityBet place bets for my group?

No. CommunityBet never places bets and never handles money. One person in the group still places the bet with their own bookmaker, then uploads the slip so everyone can see it.

How does the odds reading work?

When someone uploads a photo of the bet slip, CommunityBet reads the selections, the odds, the stake and the first kick-off time from the image, then locks the bet in. An admin can correct anything the scan gets wrong.

Can members see each other's picks?

Yes — the whole point is a shared record. Everyone in the group sees the week's picks, the slip, the result and the running P&L. Nothing is shared outside the group unless the group opts into a public profile.
