CommunityBet questions, answered
Everything groups ask before they set up: what CommunityBet does, what it deliberately doesn't do, and how the picks, money and league tables work.
The basics
No. You cannot place a bet through CommunityBet and we never hold or move money. It is admin and record-keeping software for groups of friends who already bet together — the group still uses its own bookmaker.
It keeps the week's picks in one place, stores the bet slip, records the result, works out profit and loss, builds a league table, and tracks who has paid their share.
Creating a group and tracking bets is free to use. The site carries advertising and runs an optional free prize draw, neither of which depends on how your group performs.
It works from two upwards, but most groups are between four and ten members — enough for one selection each in a weekly accumulator.
Picks, slips and results
Each member enters their own selection for the week and the group can see who is still outstanding before the deadline. An admin can enter a pick on behalf of someone who is away.
The slip is read automatically for the selections, odds, stake, potential return and first kick-off time, and the bet is treated as locked in from that moment. An admin can correct anything the scan reads wrongly.
They are recorded separately from clean wins, so profit and loss stays truthful and the league table can award a point for a bet that paid out early but ultimately lost.
Money
You set one weekly group stake and choose the split. All pay divides it evenly, losers pay divides it between last week's losers, and take turns rotates the full amount through the group one member at a time.
Never. Members pay each other exactly as they already do, and the payment is then logged against the week and confirmed by an admin so the ledger is accurate.
They are deliberately separate. Profit and loss is derived from what each settled bet staked and returned, so late contributions never distort the group's performance.
Leagues and games
Three points for a selection that wins as predicted, one point where the bet paid out early but ultimately lost, and none for a loss.
Results Leagues, where members score points for correct picks across a season, and P&L Leagues, where everyone uploads their own bet slips and the table ranks real profit and loss. Both run alongside your normal weekly bet.
Privacy and safety
Only if you choose it. Groups and members are private by default; a public group profile in the Community Hub requires both the group and the individual to opt in.
