How to run a Head-to-Head league with your mates
1 September 2026
Group accumulators are great until one mate ruins it for everybody. A Head-to-Head week fixes that: everyone backs their own bet, with their own bookmaker, for whatever stake they fancy — and at the end of the week the Table says who actually did best.
CommunityBet never takes a stake and never places a bet. You place your bets independently with your own licensed bookmaker; we keep the record, do the sums and hand out the bragging rights.
1. Set this week to Head-to-Head
There is no league to create, no season to configure and no second invite code. Your community already is the league.
- Open your community and go to This Week.
- If you are a community admin, use the format switch at the top and choose Head-to-Head.
- That is it. The screen changes from one shared slip to a board where everyone posts their own.
You can flip formats week to week — one week a group accumulator, the next a Head-to-Head — and both kinds of week stay in your History.
2. Everyone submits their bet
Place your bet as you normally would, wherever you normally do it. Then:
- Tap Upload your slip on This Week.
- Pick the screenshot or photo of the slip.
- We read it for you — selections, odds, stake, potential return and the first kick-off time.
- Check the four boxes, fix anything the scan got wrong, and tap Post my bet.
Three taps and you are on the board. A couple of things worth knowing:
- Selections stay hidden until kick-off. Nobody can see what you backed until the game starts, so nobody copies your homework.
- Late uploads get flagged. A bet posted after kick-off carries a "Late upload" badge, permanently. Not banned, just visible.
- Stakes do not have to match. That is what ROI is for — see below.
The board also lists who has not posted yet, which is usually all the nudging that is needed.
3. Settle the results
The Table cannot move until every bet has a result, so settling is deliberately blunt. Once kick-off has been and gone, an unsettled bet shows a Settle your bet prompt with four buttons:
- Won — pre-filled with your potential return, so it is one tap.
- Lost — returns nothing.
- Void — your stake comes back and the bet counts as neither a win nor a loss.
- Part-settled — for cash-outs, partially won accas and each-way placings. Type in what actually landed in your account.
Community admins can settle anyone's bet, so one mate on holiday never blocks the week. When every bet in the week has a result, the week is credited to whoever made the most profit — ties share it — and that is what fills the Weeks won column.
4. Read the Table
The Table tab is your league. Every Head-to-Head week you have ever played, added up.
| Column | What it means | | --- | --- | | Weeks | Head-to-Head weeks you have posted a bet in | | Won | Weeks you finished top on profit | | Staked | Total you have staked across settled bets | | Returned | Total that came back | | Profit | Returned minus staked, shown in red when negative | | ROI | Profit as a percentage of stake | | W-L | Settled bets won and lost | | Form | Current winning or losing run |
Two things make it a fair league rather than a rich-mate leaderboard:
Profit or ROI, your choice. Toggle the ranking at the top. Profit rewards whoever has actually made the most money. ROI rewards whoever picks best pound for pound — so the mate staking a fiver a week can beat the one staking fifty. Same data, two arguments settled.
All time or last 8 weeks. All time is the season-long record. Last 8 weeks is current form, which is the more useful one when somebody has had a bad month and wants to talk about it.
If the numbers look off, check the note under the table heading: it tells you how many bets are still waiting on a result. Almost every "the Table is wrong" complaint is one unsettled slip.
Frequently asked
Does a group-bet week count towards the Table? No. Only Head-to-Head weeks feed the Head-to-Head league. Group bet weeks live in History with their own result.
What if two people tie on a week? They both get credited with the week won.
Do free bets count? A free bet's stake is not counted as staked, so the whole return shows as profit. It will flatter your ROI, and your mates will point that out.
Can I post more than one bet in a week? Yes. Every bet you post in that week counts towards your profit and ROI for it.
Start this week
Pick a week, switch it to Head-to-Head, and tell the group everyone is on their own. The Table takes care of the rest — and the banter takes care of itself.
